Georgian College is currently seeking a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to work as an Independent Contractor on Wednesdays within the Harmonize for Speech, Hearing and Language Clinic. The Independent Contractor will assume a small caseload for speech language services and work within the full scope of an SLP working collaboratively with students in our graduate certificate program (CODA) and a professional Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) employed in the clinic. The Independent Contractor will be familiar working in a team environment and delegating treatment to CDAs. The SLP is to provide guidance, role modeling and support to the students in the development of CDA competencies.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
• Providing SLP assessments and selecting clients appropriate for the student-led clinic setting
• Providing engaging interventions and innovative therapy activities and games to target speech goals based on the client’s interests and abilities
• Delegating to and supervising an average of 4 Communicative Disorders Assistant students alongside the professional CDA in the clinic
• Taking on a leadership role in terms of role modeling professional appearance, communication and attitude for students
• Supporting positive client interactions and actively engaging the client and their support system in treatment
• Monitoring and evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of intervention(s) and progress towards goals
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Registered Speech Language Pathologist in Ontario
Current registration, and in good standing, with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO)
• Recent clinical experience with paediatric population
• Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
• Proven ability to work in a team environment
• Demonstrated communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
• Teaching and Training Adults certification and / or experience in a teaching or training capacity would be considered an asset
The successful candidate will be required to submit proof of Professional Liability Insurance and Registration of good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario. A vulnerable sector police check is also required.
