As part of our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation and advancing Georgian College’s Indigenization Strategy – Maajiishkaadaa, we are seeking passionate part-time Professors to contribute to our vision to become a college of choice for First Nations, Metis, and Inuit students and other students of Indigenous ancestry. We are proud of the significant accomplishments and innovations generated to date by our Indigenous Studies programs, having recently been awarded the Gold medal at the World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics’ Awards of Excellence for Indigenous Education and Indigenous language preservation, and the College Institutes Canada Gold award for Indigenous Education Excellence. Part-time Professors will join a community of educators and services personnel from across the college who are advancing learner-centered curricular and program innovation in our Maajii-Anishnaabemdaa and Anishnaabemowin and Program Development program.  As a faculty member, at Georgian College, you will have the opportunity to apply your passion for teaching and learning by fostering supportive and effective learning environments which allows students to thrive and achieve their full academic potential. Duties include but are not limited to: 

•    Deliver courses in Maajii-Anishnaabemdaa/Anishnaabemowin and Program Development programs
•    Develops and delivers appropriate curriculum to meet course objectives
•    Incorporates a variety of teaching / learning strategies to meet student needs
•    Evaluates student progress / achievement
•    Participates in program and college activities as required
•    Participates in program revisions and renewal activities as required
•    Creates and maintains a positive learning environment

Qualifications:
•    Relevant postsecondary education (certificate/diploma in Ojibwe language or Teacher of Anishnaabemowin, Bachelor of Education)
•    Three years’ experience teaching or working within an Ojibwe language learning environment will be considered
•    Functional in reading /writing and speaking Ojibwe
•    Strong knowledge in teaching VTA’s, VTI’s and grammar structure
•    Knowledge, understanding and lived practice of the Indigenous Culture
•    Experience managing change and leading innovation
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
•    A commitment to life-long learning
•    Computer literacy: Microsoft Office along with a high level of comfort level with learning new software such as student learning management systems and various teaching delivery applications.
•    Proven ability to work in a team environment and to foster the same in students.
•    Experience in some or all of the following is an asset: curriculum development, a variety of delivery strategies, learning methodologies, academic advising and student success strategies.
•    Teaching and Training Adults certification and / or experience in a teaching or training capacity is an asset
•    Indigenous meaning: First Nation, Metis, Inuit or Non-Status

Acceptable proof of education (degrees, credentials) from recognized post-secondary institutions or confirmation of international equivalencies will be required as part of the selection process.
