Georgian College is seeking part-time professors in the Carpentry and Renovation Programs. As faculty members at Georgian College, you will have the opportunity to apply your passion for teaching and share your rich industry experience by creating a supportive and effective learning environment which allows students to achieve their full academic potential. Courses may be scheduled and delivered during the day or evening at the Barrie Campus. Duties include but are not limited to:
• Developing and delivering appropriate curriculum to meet course objectives
• Incorporating a variety of teaching / learning strategies to meet student needs
• Evaluating student learning progress / academic achievement
• Participating in program and college activities as required
• Participating in program revision and renewal activities as required
• Creating and maintaining a positive learning environment
Qualifications:
• A Certificate of Qualifications (C of Q) for Carpentry;
• Minimum five years of experience within the construction industry;
• Teaching experience at the post secondary or within an adult learning environment is an asset;
• Computer literacy in MS Office Suite;
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and conflict resolution skills;
• Commitment to life-long learning;
• Proven ability to work in a team environment and to foster the same in students;
• Member of the Carpenters Union is an asset;
• Experience in some or all of the following is an asset: curriculum development, a variety of delivery strategies, adult learning methodologies, academic advising, and student success strategies;
• Teaching and Training Adults certification is an asset;
• The ability to teach in more than one subject / program area is an asset
Acceptable proof of education (degrees, credentials) from recognized post-secondary institutions and Provincial Apprenticeship Board, or confirmation of international equivalencies will be required as part of the selection process.
